Without boring you to death on the details, I wanted to able to share my hobby of model building with those of the same subject interests. The internet makes for an interesting forum. I've combined my professional technical skills with one of my more pleasurable hobbies. Hence, SSAMSIG was born.
Like most modelers, I have build plastic models since I was a kid. I remember trips to the local hobby shop with my dad to pick out the next project. Granted my dad did most of the building I couldn't wait for the finished scale replica to meet its doom. Not all of them were destroyed, I still have a few cars in my display case from my earlier days of model building (thanks to my Mom). I went on a sabatacle when I discovered girls through my graduation from the University of Iowa. While waiting for job offers I filled some of the time building models again and have ever since.
Out of all the cars, planes, ships, tanks
and other subjects that I have built over the years my attention has always gravitated to
military vehicles of smaller scale, i.e. 1/48th and smaller. I have and will, from
time to time, build in the larger scales but one thing is certain it will always be a
military vehicle. Tank, half-track, armored car, soft-skin, German, British or what
ever makes no difference to me as long as
its in small scale.
I have been a resident of the Des Moines (Iowa) area since 1986. Before that I grew up in the Iowa City area and attended a model club in Cedar Rapids. Since 1987 I have been an active member of IPMS Des Moines / Hawkeye Modelers club and IPMS USA.
I would like to thank those who have shared their modeling skills with me. I want to especially thank my wife, Liz, whose loving patience and understanding has allowed me to enjoy this escape from the everyday stresses of life.
I hope you enjoy your visit to SSAMSIG and feel free to send me your comments (email) about this website or the hobby of model building. Thank you!
