The International Plastic Modelers Society
(IPMS) is a special interest group
promoting the hobby of scale model building. The Des Moines chapter,
reknowned as the Hawkeye Modelers, was established in 1969. Members
build models of various subjects, scales and eras. Subjects include
aircraft, armor, cars, figures, science fiction, etc. Scale models in
1/72, 1/35, 1/24, etc. Eras include peace-time, war-time, past, present
and future. Basically members build anything that suits them.
The Hawkeye Modelers are a socialable group that help
others in the pursuit of scale model building. From construction techniques to final
detailing. If our members know about it, so will you. You may have techniques to
share with us. We travel to model contests held around the Midwest.
Our meetings are held on
the first Monday and third Thursday evenings at Hobby
Haven, 2575 86th St , in Urbandale. Call Hobby Haven at
515 276-8785 if you have any questions.
NEXT MEETING:

4th, at 7:30 pm until 8:30 pm.
Advantages to attending the meetings and joining the
chapter are: learning about the latest hobby product releases; receiving help with any
part of plastic modeling; and a chance to discuss model building with others that share a
common interest. The chapter has a display case within Hobby Haven for everybody to
display their latest handi-work.
