Details . . . Details . . . Details!

My top 10 list of items I religiously use for detailing my small scale armor models.

10.  Parts box - NEVER throw  any leftover parts away . . . goes without saying!
  9.  Roco-Minitanks accessory sets - From ammo boxes to vehicle mufflers you can't beat these gems.
  8.  Model railroad department of ANY hobby shop - God bless these hobbyists, Grandt Line, Walthers,
Woodland Scenics to name a few.  Endless variety of detail parts here.
  7.  Conrail tube/rod - Varying diameters of tube can replace misshapen kit main gun barrels.
  6.  Form-a-line tape - Varying widths of dark colors make excellent vision blocks on periscopes.
  5.  Evergreen styrene - From varying thickness' and textures of sheet and strips are great for
conversion or scratch-building.  The styrene quality makes vacu-forming quick and easy.
  4.  Lead foil - Using an eye-ball scalpel you can cut strips to make everything from helmet straps
to stowage tie-down belts.  Incorporating photo-etch buckles make secured stowage look great!
  3.  Wire - Varying gauges of brass / copper make great tow cables, lifting eyes, grab handles, etc.
  2.  Syringe needles - I use various sizes to replace smaller gun barrels such as .30/.50 cal MGs,
bow/coaxial machine guns, etc.  Can't beat the look of a straight gun barrel in 1/72nd.
  1.  MV lenses (image) - Combined with a set of ROUND dental burs (image) you can recess these lenses into
realistic looking head / tail / search lights.   WARNING: Do not use a Dremel tool use a pinvise.

Others that didn't make the top 10 list but are still useful:   Sprue, aluminum tape, surgical tape,
double-sided tape, small buck shot, cheese cloth, nylon twine, brass sheet / screen, printer's tin,
to name a few.  The list could go on and on .

What detail secrets do you use, I'd like to hear about them.  Drop me a line (email).
